Ladies Winter League- Week 1

Well kick off for winter league brought torrential rain, flooded courts and thankfully 3 indoor ties courtesy of David LLoyd and Fitzwilliam. With no class 1 team in action this week it was left to our second team to lead the campaign away to David Lloyd. Ciara and Leo lost a close battle 6-1 7-6 and similarly Mairead and Germaine despite being 6-0 and 5-1 down, still managed to lose 6-0 7-5. I guess it takes a set to get used to those indoor courts! Gemma and Claire won a close 3 set match to salvage a point.

Unfortunately our third team had a 3-0 loss to Leixlip 1sts. Thanks to Helen Hughes for stepping in at the last minute to sub for injured Alyson Duggan.

Our 4th team made the long trip to Trim , Co Meath. Aoife Wixted and Bronwyn Crofton managed to pull off a point here. Anna Rowan and Connie Dolan despite winning the first set couldn't convert leaving the team with a 2-1 loss.

Our 5th team also escaped the ravages of our weather- playing indoors at Riverview. Alas we succumbed 3-0 but not before Inge Dorman and Maria O'Mahony bravely fought a 7-6 3-6 7-6 battle.

With only 2 playable courts in MP our 6th team captained by Louise Ryan had their match moved to Fitzwilliam. Unfortunately giving away our home advantage here didn't help and the team lost 3-0
