Mens Summer League - Team 5 victorious in playoffs

Congratulations to Team 5 (Captain Ross Reynolds) who were victorious last night in a closely fought match up against Sutton 5 in the Class 5 playoffs in Sutton and are now promoted to Class 4 for next year. 

On what was a warm, close evening the guys put in a truly gutsy performance against the home team.  First of all Mark and Pat had a close two setter in their doubles but were pipped at the post by a clearly seasoned doubles pairing.  Then Damo Mooney came off court with what can only be described as a cheesy grin - a winner in 3 very quick sets.  The steadfast pairing of Tadgh and Andrew confidently left the court so we knew we were 2-1 up with all to play for.  It was all down to Ross (Captain fantastic) and the quietly confident Tomasz.  Getting into the final stages of these two three set matches the nerves on and off the court were fraught - with the games being played side by side.  Then it all went quiet...........was it true .......yes it was...... Ross had won in the tiebreak.  Tomasz was in control anyway and playing some superb tennis but did not have to finish so he could save himself for the semis.

Congratulations again guys and thanks for doing us proud.  Next the semis and all to play for in Clontarf on Saturday at 2.  All support would be greatly appreciated!!
