Mount Pleasant LTC Club Update - COVID - 19

Dear Members

As the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to unfold, the Management Committee together with Club Manager, Dee Delaney, want to give all members an update on actions we are taking.

The health and safety of the members, staff and wider community, remain Management's top priority as it continues to look after the best interests of the Club as a whole.

Management has put plans in place in the immediate term by the closing of the Club from Monday 16 March to Sunday 29 March. We now feel it is imperative that we go one step further and remove tennis court nets from each court, so members cannot play on the courts.

While Management understands the need and want of members to exercise, it believes that it cannot ensure that members are adhering to the HSE guidelines while on the Club's premises. This puts all members at risk, especially because the clubhouse and washing facilities are closed at this time. Please be assured, Management did not take this decision lightly and asks members to respect its decision.

Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer in the Department of Health stated yesterday, Wednesday 18 March, “Everyone must play their role. We need to continue maximising our efforts to interrupt new transmission chains and keep clusters under control. Reduce your social contacts to those in your closest family network.”

Many medical professionals are members of the Club. Every day they risk their own lives to try to contain the virus. We are grateful for what they do and we support them in all their efforts. Hopefully this decision will help to reduce the number of patients they will be dealing with in the weeks to come.

Please note that all club-organised activities for all sections of the Club remain cancelled or postponed. This includes this year's AGM. If you have any questions or queries, please email Management at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Club Manager, Management and Colm O’Doherty, Club Groundsman, will be carrying out regular inspections of the clubhouse and courts during this period to ensure that the club grounds are maintained and kept in good condition so that play can resume as soon as possible once this situation concludes.

As a precautionary measure, Management is organising a deep clean of the clubhouse during this period. Management will continue to monitor the situation and will continue communicating with Members about any changes as they arise.

Lastly, we wish for you all to stay safe and thank you for your continued understanding of this unprecedented situation as it unfolds.

Hope to see you all soon,

The Management Committee.
